Emgo vs K&N air filters

Has anyone compaired the Emgo pod filters to the K&N. I picked up a jet kit for the ZL1000 on ebay and am going with the stage 3. The bike already had F1-R's on it when I bought it. I am having Rocky's friend make the brace for the side covers, and picked up a adjustable advancer from factorypro. I am also going to replace the coils with the ones from Holeshot. Getting back to the filters, there is one hell of a difference in pricing between the two brands $144 vs $35!! Are the K&N's worth the extra cash? Also I have contacted a guy that has the chrome horns that I have been looking for. One more thing anyone make a V or R rated 160 or 170 - 15 tire anymore If so-- Who has the best deal. Thanks, nortman

Hey Nortman, Check Starcycle for the Coils, Had them on Sale a While Back for $108, "think" Its www.starcycleperformance.com. You can Still Get the Stock Dunlops from the Kawasaki Dealer, Rear is about $175, Unless You Plan to Race at Daytona any of the H Rated Tires are Fine, and a LOT Cheaper, Metzler ME 880 or Avon Venom X[ Super Sticky] Think the Metz,s will Last a Lot Longer.Cant Help on the Filters but I'm Sure the Price goes with Quality, Like everything Else, "SAVE NOW PAY LATER" ?????, Later Rocky, PS I need to Send Rick the Measurments on the Front Mounts, the 900 ones dont work on the Bigger Carbs

You might check to see if the cheaper Emgo filters are really paper filters wrapped in wire screen to look like a reusable K&N which has the cotton guaze filter material. I have seen these before, you get what you pay for. If you want a cheaper alternative to K&N look into Some UNI Pod filters, they are re-useable pods with foam elements and nice chrome end caps. About $70 for my 600 in Dennis Kirk so you could probably get them elsewhere on the WEB for $50. Good Luck.

Thanks for the input. I have looked at the uni web site and I think that they are actually better than the K&N filters. Those are the ones that I am going with. Some bad news: I took the top piece off of my tank this afternoon with the intention of polishing it, and found MEGARUST on the top of the tank. After cleaning the rust off I ended up with a 1/8th hole where it rusted through. I will silver solder the hole and Kreme the tank, then I'll try my hand at painting. I'll post photos when I'm done. Also, I am going with a Avon Venom 170/80/15. I am looking for inputs on the cheapest location for the tire. :(

Filters Etc

The Emgo are dry paper with a wire mesh around them. CHEAP! That is why I am going to use the Unifilters. By the way their website has some interesting reading on the different kinds of filters. Also thanks for the tire info, $103 is a great price and I am ordering one

Emgo vs K&N air filters

I have a new unused set of Dunlop Cruisemax RWL tires that I'm wanting to sell. I'll make you a deal if you pay shipping...

Crusemax

Thanks, but I am going with the Avon, I've got a Super Venom on the front now, and ran them on the W650 that I had. I used to love grinding the "sparkies" that they put on the bottom of the pegs, on the curves with that bike. The Eli had an old Metzler on the front and a Dunlop K555 on the rear. The tires were pretty hard (the bike was in storage for at least 10 years at a local dealership). I really had to be carful in the corners with those tires!! 8O This winter I have aleady mounted a 120/80/18 that I had on hand on the front, so the Venom X will match on the rear. By the way, the 120 was the REAR tire on the Dub.

Hey Rick, None of the 750's got shipped to US. I know that there are a couple in the US that private parties shipped but I believe they kept em all in Japan.

yes all finished and these bikes are something even for a 750 the mid power is awsome:thumbsup:
