I was looking at that system you moidified for Eleanor again, that pipe looks mean and I'm sure it is louder than hell...:laughing7:

I like the way you shortened it up.
Thanks Jim ! i liked it so well, i just had to do the same thing to the zl i'm building up rite now.

they are loud, but riding under normal conditions, not too bad.

i like the looks of the stock exhaust the best, but having aftermarket exhaust for the extra horse power, i just did'nt like the looks of the stock D&D. the end result makes me feel a whole lot better on the looks :headbang:

& really took some weight off bike vs. stock

My '85 ZL900 had a D&D exhaust when I bought it. I installed a stock system last year.
I love the sound and performance of the D&D exhaust but hated the look of it. Early on I made a few changes to the D&D exhaust can to make it look more acceptable to me. The little tail sticking out of the back was removed, the can was moved forward a few inches, and the can was leveled more instead of angled upward.
Here are some videos with both systems, the video is terrible but audio is good:

quality not very good, but you get the idea.(click on pic)

(stock downpipes, power chamber removed, st/st mufflers made by "sidekick" mounted directly on downpipe exits)

Sorry,
Since the middle of a restoration, it still does not sound to be heard.

But,
Since they can replace the silenser (glass wool), volume and sound quality can be adjusted think.

I can't speak English.
I'm sorry in strange English

Yesterday, I went into the fire engine.
It seems the same as the normal muffler
I am very satisfied
I never heard about "Cycle Works" before but your mufflers look like really great !!!!!
Would you have a bigger picture of them ?
Are they stainless ?
I'd like to replace mine with "stock". Because we don't have any OEM here, i asked them for shipping to France !
If anyone else have a good idea for me... ;-)

Now, Japan is a long holiday. So next week to take a picture of the muffler.
It imports into France. . . I think it is good to ask NZ looking for export agent.

I'll be waiting for next week ! :notworthy:

In France ZL 1000 was imported in 350 ex. between 1987 - 1990 (i baught a 1st hand 1 week ago !). ZL 900 only with import.

I know there were more in Germany, Holland, etc...
Export agent is a great idea but for all European countries ! :hello2:

CycleWorks website says 800 N.Z. dollars for the stainless system. That works out to a fairly reasonable 650 USD. Shipping and duties might be a deal-killer though.

I would pay that if it included the headers.

A local dealer asked me 860€ (~ 1200$ US) to build 2 mufflers in stainless.:violent1:
Do you understand why am i interested by cycleworks offer ????:emot-angel:

Hi everyone,

Does someone knows if "Cycleworks" are still in activity ?
I send them 2 messages and had no answer...

Mine were made locally. Stainless steel Mufflers. Original Headers
Valcunator
