Helmets are not required in FL, but you have to carry a minimum of $10,000 of insurance. If not you are DOA/SOL. I ride 95% of the time with a Helmet. That other 5% does bother me. Stats shows that you are more likely to get in a accident within 2 1/2 miles of your home. Only because you spend more time in that area than anywhere else. It cracks me up when the Harley brothers who ride Harley s say that a Helmet impairs there vision & hearing. The only thing that impairs them is there loud disturbing pipes with all that shaking going on & all the bars they stop when they ride. The one got rear ended after coming out of a bar after making a U turn on the top of a blind hill. When they pull out they ride so slow that I always have that fear of getting plowed into. So I pretty much do not ride with them. They are very boring to ride with anyway.
