CARB CLEANING SERVICE ,ultrasonic cleaning

Rick,
I sent you a PM.
I was wondering if you are able to service 1978-79 Suzuki GS1000 carbs? I built a chopper out of my old GS and I need my carbs to run with Emgo Pods and a cut down exhaust.

Thanks!

-Fran

Rick...

As soon as I get back from Mid-Ohio, I may send you my 1K carbs...I am pretty sure I got some stuff goin on there...In the last 4 days I have had the idle change on me by 200-300 rpm...Yesterday I rode for a few blocks and had to stop to make a phone call..I shut the bike off for a few minutes then went to re-start...Bike was warm but it didn't do it's usual jump to life with a nano-second of start button pushing..When it did finally start the idle was only about 8-900 rpms and it sounded like a V-Twin..When I revved it, it seemed ok but did not want to idle..I had a hard time pulling off from that stop, but then it went and I rode a few blocks and it was fine...I drove 35 miles and no problem. Shut the bike off for about 4 hours then went to leave...Started, idled no problem...

I know I could pull em and clean em and set stuff on them, but I cannot get them looking clean like you can and I know when I get them back, they will be right and a simple bolt-on...

Maybe....let me give you a little background..

From the time I bought the bike last november up untill now, here is what it would do....Start perfect hot or cold...Idle fine, never had to mess with it...All RPM's all gears, no matter what, it seemed to run perfect....

Saturday: I went to go take my skills test for my MC license...Bike started fine...I drove down a couple miles and got gas...hit the road and drove to the test site...Bout 35-40 miles...Bike ran like a champ no problem...

I sat there for two hours before I got to take my turn...Fired up the bike, no problem. Idled fine and I drove it over to where you start..They did 4 of us in the line...I was #2..Idled fine while I waited to take my turn..Did 5 of the skills, no problem...after I did #6 and came to a stop. I noticed the tach was about 1450-1500 up from bout 1100..I checked throttle, choke, etc...all good so I reached down and idled it down with knob...Finished test....Went and got the stamp and left...Drove bout 15 miles...all good. Stopped went in and got something to drink..Came out started, no problem then drove about 30 miles and stopped...Was there for about 2.5 hours...Left there and drove about 35 miles back home...no problem...Sunday I drove it. Started, idled, ran perfect...Tuesday I rode it to work..No issues...I went and got gas on break, no issues....then when I left a little while later I went a few blocks and stopped to make that call and shut the bike off for 5 minutes..Started back up (hard starting) and it would not hardly idle sounded like a 2 cylinder..Tach was about 800 so I idled it back up. It was sluggish off the start the first time, then cleared up...drove bout 30 miles at 60 mph with a few stop lights on the way...No problem all the way there and all the way back...

I would think vent would not cause this...Sounds like idle ports were blocked a few times and cleared out...Everything above idle was fine...

My zl900 used to that that when it was heat soaked, cleaned the tank vent and no problem since

Will try it....Under the fuel cap there looks like two holes in the opening closest to you when riding...Are these where the vent comes out?

I just got back from installing my newly rebuilt carbs on the GS Chopper and I gotta say, Rick definitely knows his $hit! My carbs are cleaner than I could ever get them and they start/run/idle like a stock bike!!!

Before sending my carbs to Rick, the bike was hard to start, would only run on the choke, would not idle below 1700rpm and would run very rough. I pulled the (beautiful) carbs out of the box, stuck them on the bike and she started right up with no choke! I can get her to idle at 900rpm with no problem. I wasn't able to take the bike around the block, but she revved thru the RPMs without hesitation (another thing she wouldn't do before).

Also, the turnaround was fantastic! I think Rick started my carbs the day he received them and had them back to me in about a week. :) I really can't say enough about this experience. It was worth every cent and now I can get started actually RIDING my bike!

Here are some pics Rick sent me as he was working on my carbs:
