I can vouche for Rick too, he does EXCELLENT work on these carbs, I got a set and I'm VERY happy with them, bike runs like new!!!!

Glad to hear that you are on the mend Rick. :D
I would appreciate it if you could check out the shipping to the UK - my post code is S75 3TB.
If you need a full address - let me know and I'll pm you.
May have more than one set of carbs for you. :cool10:

They aren't quite the same size and all, but when I had an alternator for my bike shipped over from the UK the price was going to be 25 pounds sterling. The carbs are a little bigger so I would probably say ..a little bit more than the costs I was looking at?. Oh and carved out styrofoam works wonders as a protective shell from transporting bike parts overseas.

An extra set of carbs ?

.

I was thinking recently that it would be adventageous to have spares ready to go of key parts.

A set of clean carbs, a spare radiator and fan ...

any other key parts would be good to have around just in case ?

.

zlkawboy

if your thinking about buying a set of carbs from wiked ZL900
I must tell you he does good work my 85 runs now as good as my first 85 did straight from the factory, it may even start a hair better.

Thanx!

I appreciate the endorcement ...

I have guys all the time tell me "lemme work on dat thang!" ... yikes!

By the way - I've never actually started a 'hair' ... does your hair have a kick start? hehehe ... just a 'lil semantic humor ...

Yo Wicked, got any ideas/plans of how I could build my own Ultrasound tub. I want to try and build something a little bigger than I can get here. The prices here for even small stuff is crazy and forget importing anything, Thai customs would jump all over it.

Cheers,

SD

I am also a little curious about ultrasonic tubs, the only ones I have seen in person are the ones we use for medical instruments, and you would have to take all four carbs apart and clean them separately in order to get them to fit.

Hey SD, I have been doing a little bit of research on the topic.. dosn't look too easy to build one yourself. To get a good result and avoid pitting or other damages to the parts there seems to be a fine balance between the the thickness of the tub, frequencies used etc. Having said that, if you can get your hands on a good set of transducers and a the right type of tub and an appropriate generator you should be ok. If you get the rest of the equipment to be powerful enough to handle it, then you could probably have the sky as your limit as far as the size of tub goes... just gotta remember that the lubricating fluid probably won't be all that cheap - you can reuse it though for a while depending on how dirty the parts are. Are you able to leave the country and travel to somewhere like Japan? they seem to be pretty big in the market as far as all the parts go. Not sure if you meant that Thai customs would have a field day for importing items as well as items brought in in person or just by mail or something. If you find anything out I would love to hear it as I have a lot of stuff that needs to get runs through a real good cleaning.

Tm, If I bring in the parts or even get friends to, then their is no import duty (fingers crossed, least in the past) 555 I wouldn't trust Thai customs or any of the government boys as far as I could throw em.

I guess if I could get one and take it all apart, then I might be able to get it in or at least the parts that I couldn't copied here.

If I find anything of interest, I'll post it here.

In a recent visit to my bike shop to get a manual for my new project I ran into the mechanic there who sold me my zl900 engine. I asked him if he new where I could get my hands on an ultrasonic cleaner (just browsing aroung for you SD). He told me that his set him back 3 grand (pretty big one), one thing led to another and I asked him if he does carbs cleaning with the ultrasonic cleaner. He quoted me 2 hours works for it which came to around 200 bucks including bench synching them. This makes Wickedzl's price incredibly reasonable as he also paints them to look like new. I probably will only get the mechanic to do the actual cleanse with the cleaner as I don't have 3 grand to drop on one but want to do as much of the work as I can myself, but if anyone wants to get the whole shebang done and wants to pay a reasonable price then I would definately have them get in contact with Wickedzl first.

tmdoth, thanks for asking around and I don't have the 3 grand either or the money the Thai customs boys would try to steal off me either. 555

wow, he does carbs in 2 hours start to finish? ..i must be putting to much effort in these carbs ,it takes me hours ..does he also polish the slides and the bores ? i will also replace up to 1 diaphragm ,free :D

well,he said he would charge for two shop hours to do the work. Not sure what that would equate to in actual manhours for him. But I am pretty sure that he won't be painting my carbs any time soon. I should ask him if it includes the slide and bore polishing. basically he said he would do the carbs for 200 bucks, which means you beat his price in more than one way.
