Case Guards, Anyone?

Any update on the status of making a run on the case guards? details?

Current status is I have the jig and am awaiting the time to remove my installed guards so I can have some more made. Not gonna' happen before the first of the year for sure. Need to finish my current restoration before I have access to my lift............I don't work on anything that's not on the table. Will post when I have more certain information to relay to the membership on these guards.

Hi Markus! This is an old thread but is there any chance any "new" case guards will be offered? Thanks BUD

The status on these guards hasn't changed since my post #144 but I haven't forgotten about these and I still plan to get these underway soon. I'm just a few days away from freeing up my lift table so I can remove a set of those bars from one of mine to have them reproduced. Since I'm close to pulling the trigger on these, I want to take this opportunity to gauge the immediate interest there is in a run of these guards. At this time, there won't be any requests for prepaid orders but I do want to get an accurate accounting of members that will actually follow through with the purchase of these guards so post up in this tread if you'll want to get some of these and how many. These will be the one piece design as before and come bare metal so you have to powder-coat, paint or chrome the ones you buy. They were $90.00 shipped before and I suspect they'll be @ the same this time too.

For those members that have been waiting patiently for me to rebuild more petcocks, I plan to get on that soon too and they should be available after the first of the year.

count me in for 1 to replace missing set on ZLMark's bike

I would be also interested in a case guard for my ZL1K. Does this case guard only apply to the 1000's? What about the ZL600? I would be interested in a guard for that one also.

" What about the ZL600? I would be interested in a guard for that one also."

Completely a different set up for the 6.

Interested, just would like to know how hard to install since they are one piece , can you do only 1 bolt on each side so the motor doesn't shift then rotate up to do 2nd bolt?? Rookie here:laughing7:

You're confused R.J., OEM are two piece and the ones I'm referring to are one piece. I've got the one piece design on both my ZL1k's and although a snug fit, they went on Beautifully! I really need to know how much true demand there is out there in the ZL world for these cause I'm not gonna' wind up sitting on a bunch of these and two or three orders ain't gonna' get them done.

Yes, they will fit all the 'big' Zls including the ZL750 across the pond but will not fit the ZL600 of either generation. I would put one on my ZL900 but already have an OEM set on there now and am about to have them re-chromed so they'll stay with that bike.

OK Elimination, it's time to get serious and give this another try. I've recently bought an original one of these crash bars that was made by GAZL900 on this site years ago of which I have the jig to make them. I want to have @ 10 sets made but I want confirmation of the true interest there may be for these guards before I make the investment. If I can get confirmation of 5 sets sold of the run, I'll pull the trigger on them. These will be the one piece design that this thread represents and is all about. They will be bare metal and you'll be responsible for coating, plating or painting......whichever you chose to do. I haven't gotten quotes but I imagine they'll wind up @ $100.00 a set when they're done....... that's right at what GAZL900 was getting for his. These will be carbon copies of those guards. Let's post up some interest and see if we can get these done now. Please only post up if you'll follow through with the final purchase of these........

:hello: One year gave me a set in 2013. I wonder if they was off ZL Mark's bike. In return I gave them to Alan C from Miami FL. I wonder what ever happened with him. He won't return my PMs.

No, I've got the ones off of ZLMarks' bike. They will be used as the pattern to make some more.
