ZX9 cams

looking for info on zx9 cam in a ZL1000

thanks
Scott

youll need to use zx-10 cams in the zl1k not the zx-9. also a good place tolook/contact is blackhawk cycle salvage in the quad cities in n/e iowa. ive done some business with them over the years very knowleable and big inventory, also can tell you what years/makes for enterchangebility etc.

ZX9 Cams........

Hi.

The cams from the ZL900 and ZL1000 are same OEM numbers.

And You can fit the ZX9 Cams in the ZL900/1000 as well. No problem !

ok now i have to retract some of what i said earlier. i brought out the service manuals and this is what i found. zx9-zx10, cam lobe height[not lift] 1.410-1.414 " timing zx9 intake opens 45 deg. btdc int closes 65 deg abdc ex open 65 deg bbdc ex closes 45 deg atdc. zx10 int opens 40 deg btdc int closes 70 deg abdc ex opens 65 deg bbdc ex closes 45 deg atdc. lift is the same for both cams [note the same lobe height] but intake timing is different. this is done through the cam grind. zl9/zl1k lobe height app. 1.388" [ taken from my good used cams from my zl1k]. zl9 timing int opens 37.5 deg closes at 57.5 abdc ex opens at 57.5 bbdc closes 37.5 atdc zl1k is same. so yes you can use either cams [sorry for the wrong info earlier] lift is app. .020 more with the zx cams. it is the cam timing that will throw the proverbial wrench in. some of that can fixed with adj. sprockets and proper tuning etc. so zl9/zl1k cams are the same. zx9 and zx10 cams are different.again sorry for misleading anyone hope this info helps. as soon as i get to the dyno i will post the info with zx10 cams degreed in. to clarify all the cams will interchange but will act "different" when it comes to "the numbers".

I know what you mean !
The first site is in Bristol and I thought about using them, then found the second site which as you know is not far from Sunny Barnsley ! :D
Will keep looking around to see what services are available LOCALLY !

Cheers for that Vinny, I live in Bristol so I'm looking at the first link now.
