Today I installed ladder hangers on the North outside sheds wall. Before attaching the hangers I first put 2"x 4"x 22" boards between the walls studs on the inside so that I could install the hangers in a certain location. I used to store my ladders outside on the ground. All my ladders but one was discarded by other people in the woods or along the road. Also one was given to me. Also I have two Little Giants that I store in my garage.

Today I installed all the 120 volt outlets and switches. Time spent around 5 hours. Next up is to build a closet for the air compressor.

Today I built the closet for my other air compressor for the shed. It's 42"x 42"x 6 ft 2 inches high. I put sound deading foam in the wall that faces the work bench. Also I'm going to put sound deading in the ceiling of the closet. I started the top shelve that will be above the work bench. It's going to be 11 feet 4 inches wide, 4 feet deep and 6 feet 2 inches from the floor. All the 3/4" pressure treated plywood that I use for hurricanes for my 15 windows for the house will be stored on this shelve. I'm making my own door for the compressor closet. Time spent working today about six hours.

You exhausting it through the wall?

You mean the compressor. I do have two heavy duty 6"x 12" aluminum vents that I have been saving for that reason.

My exhaust has a muffler screwed to a pipe. Pipe the muffler outside and a good amount of noise will be outside.

I'm getting too old for this kind of work

I here ya on getting old when it comes to doing construction work. I've had pulled muscles in my lower back now for over two months. I've been taking muscle relaxers twice a day.

Yesterday I finished up the compressors closet and made the closets door. I put 1 1/2 inches of sound deading foam inside the doors frame and hung it. Also I started the shelves and work bench on the west wall which will be next to the compressors closet. Time spent about 6 hours.

Stripped most of the brick where the door will be. I guess I will cut the block and grind it flush with the floor tapering it down about an inch to the outside wall. I would remove the row of block but there is no way of cutting the one on the end in half without making a hole in my floor.

I guess the old stoop needs to be cut out. My plan is to drill some rebar into the block, fill the cells and maybe come out 6" or so from the wall.

Or maybe I just fill the cells and call it good. I really don't want it to look patched up when it's finished and know anything less than a 3" pour is prone to crack.

Anyone have some experience with this or have any advice to offer?

Are you pouring concrete or doing an asphalt driveway?

Gravel. Any concrete will be hand mixed out of bags to clean up the threshold.

Before filling the bottom ground level rows of concrete block with concrete mix cut the centers out of the blocks so that you can pour one continuous seam of concrete. Home Depot and Lowes sells this new stuff that is strong as concrete but is a foam composite. If you use it you won't have to do any cutting and it is prone to freezing.

I think I will knock out the bottom row of block and cut away as much as I can at the end 1/2 blocks, remove the man door threshold by cutting a clean line where that wall and floor met and form a proper threshold. I couldn't find anything like you described on the HD site.

Door supposed to be in at the end of the month.

I don't recall the name of it. If you go to Lowes they have it in the concrete section. Are you using a steel I beam at the top of the garage door header. What size is your garage door going to be.

(3) 9 1/4" x 1 3/4" lvl's for the header installed between the floor and sill board. I cut the 2x10 floor joists flush with the sill board and installed the lvl's from the outside then used the proper screws from both sides of lvl and hangers with proper fasteners for the floor joists. 9x7 door

I'd like to see pics of the LVL beams in place.

Not much to see, I added the redhead screws to stick the 3 beams together 2 rows 16" on center like the PE called for.

So you got structural engineering drawings done up and pulled a permit.
