Bye bye aluminum casement windows. 6 new windows in less than 3 hours. 1 larger than the others and 1 with the dryer vent.

I know a guy that has a company. He made it so I didn't even have to think about spending the cash for installation. One of those projects that is worth every penny. I've had them done in my other house a long time ago. Those single pane aluminum casement windows were horrible, I wanted vents in all cause my mustang has a big overlap cam and smells like gas and in the other room I've been known to have a smoke show with the wood burner.

I have a hammer large enough to exit through a concrete block wall if needed.

The final touches make such an impact. We have the same thing in our basement but much smaller openings. I brushed my waterproofer around the corners and ceilings but rolled the rest as well as the paint with a 3/4" nap roller. Messy but it really laid it dowm! It eats up a 5G bucket of paint in a hurry though. Your project is really coming together nicely.

Today for my new shed I made sides for the hood over the A/C using an old road sign. Rain was still come inside. Time spent about 3 hours.

It's a good thing I went with the 9' door. The car is an easy swing in, back out all the way and turn left then on your way. 27' of gravel straight out the door. Moved some earth to widen the drive so I could get a swing into the door. With my truck @ over 17.5' it will be tricky but doable if I need to get it in to work on it. My mustang, the primary reason for the door, has a sucky turn radius and no power steering but I'm sure it will be fine. I will be moving the washing machine next week, the other sides laundry tub doesn't have the hose hookups.

Remodeling, the gift that keeps giving. Every task creates other tasks and on it goes. Glad you have not had any major train wrecks thus far. Will the fill where you back out of the garage need a retaining wall or do you think you can manage it? It appears in the photo that the supporting slope behind it is marginal at the least. Perhaps its just how I'm looking at it. If you are already near the drip line of those two trees with the fill, a reatainig wall may be your only choice. Adding dirt inside the drip line of the trees is a BAD idea.

I'm going to keep it sloped and throw some ground cover down on the slope. I don't want to tie it into the slope that's already there and I really don't want to have to build any walls.


Installed the light and wife trim painted the ceiling. Time to start loading it.

Are you going to put insulation in the void above the garage door.

Yup, already foam filled the inside corners.

I mean between the 8 floor joists above the garage door.

Yes, going to stuff the cells with fiberglass, I used spray foam on the inside corners to seal air gaps like I did all around the band boards and rim joists.

I used 1"x 6" ceder casing or what ever is needed for around my garage doors opening on the outside.

I couldn't get the 1x6 cedar in 10' length so I went with white PVC. The jamb will be painted grey once the treated lumber ages a while.

I just looked at mine. It's 1"x 4" cedar. I had to use 2 10 footers across the top and 2 8 footers one on each side.

Made some more dust, need to hose down the house. Some cleanup around the drive at the door and time to load the garage up. With the hurricane looking to dump some rain over the next couple of days it will be inside work.

Thank you. Well, I've only been married for 3 years and as always there is a priority list. Saving for the BX took it's tool on cash flow if ya know what I mean. A grey trex deck at the entrance and on the side of the house along with a new front door are now higher on the list.

I am really surprised at the amount of light from the fixture over the door. I was a bit skeptical when you mentioned the type of fixture you were considering using. Is the bulb LED? I'm with R.J. Kudos!

Thanks! It's a 75w led equivalent on the warmer end of the light spectrum. I have the blinding white led spot on the corner of the house that is dusk to dawn, on low until motion is detected. I read up on size/height of fixture and 16" @ 10' above grade casts a 16' radius of light.

Most important, the wife is thrilled with the way it looks!
