My girlfriend and her 17 yo son both smoke and both have respratory problems as well. Funny watching a 17 yo smoke then have to take breathing treatments because of asthma. And the girlfriend wonders why she doesn't sleep well at night because she starts hacking in her sleep the closer it gets to morning.
 
Rammy 2 weeks of no smoking and the morning cough goes away, i never had it but the GF did, smoking marboro 100's since she was a teen she's now 40 and a non-smoker of 2-3 months
 
I know what those cravings are like, i took up smoking at 10 and smoked until 40 with the odd break in between. Each time i stopped it was cold turkey, but i had to wait until i wanted to stop and not because someone told me to. The first two weeks are the hardest and i,m glad to say this time i don't have any cravings at all, i've been of them around four years now and there's no way i'll ever take them up again.
 
Update:

Just to let you all know my last smoke was on 1/22/07 and I'm completely over the habit and have been for quite some time. I know now that I will never ever pick up smoking again.

I honestly thought I would never be able to quit after trying so many times! Just to let you know, if I can quit anyone can!

Reformed smoker - quit about 10 tears ago. Probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do!
Not always easy even now - not to have one. :pale:
Keep saying to myself - don't waste all that effort by being weak now!
Worked so far. :D
 
Contratz mark, I'm still going too.. only a month in but starting to get a little easier each day.. I can't wait until my year.....

Nashville just passed a law of no smoking inside. Now the streets are full of smoke !!! It's sadly hillarious.

I had an aunt that never smoked, never drank, was a regular church goer, was a homemaker and passed away of cancer in her 50s. Explain that one.

Did you know that the surgen general in the mid 80's issued the long study "Health In America" where they found that cigar and pipe smokers statistically live LONGER than non-smokers??? Explain that one.

Basically, it's not the tobacco but more than the additives in the tobacco.

My grandad is 94 and smoked a pipe constantly all his life.

His brother chain smoked filterless camels all his life and died a year after having one lung removed at 70 something years old. (He kept chain smoking after he had the lung removed)

General statistics show that if you smoke, you have a one in three chance of dying of cancer. It's also the same with non-smokers.

Just flip a coin and get it over with ...

"born-again" smokers (those who quit and nag everyone else)

Socialism that thinks governments can take care of me better than I can.

Helmet laws (although I always wear a helmet)

Politicians that think they need to take care of me rather than serve me.

Politicians who think we have freedom FROM speach rather than freedom OF speach. (think about that one)

The Dixie Chicks for the same reason.

Uh ... did I mention politicians ???
