Today's Weather

We just keep getting hit with snow system after snow system. Beats the he!! out of the freezing rain and ice that we usually get!
 
Worst commute for me coming to work this winter was just now...Blowing and snowing pretty good...Roads are terrible...And I think the heavy band is just now starting....man o man...good times...not
 
:hello: Man you guys be careful out on those treacherous roads. It's 70* at the moment. It is to be in the mid 80s again. :laughing7: It is hard for me to stay focused on my remodeling project. I'm going to try to get a ride in today between coats of urethane. I dread this coming Summer. It is predicted to be a one of the hottest. We are gearing up for Bike Week Daytona. Riders Of Kawasaki does a nice ride & dinner for it's members at no charge. Last year about 40 members went. The ride covered around 100 miles. My wife & I are hoping to go.
 
I'm working from home today - we got snow, then sleet, then rain. Just in time for morning rush hour, too.

Luckily, I ride mass transit. The trolley is very reliable - and it's usually right on time. Good thing too, since the trolley stop is a half-mile walk from my front door.

Today I was running a bit late & didn't check their web site for delay info...turns out power lines were down and four all-weather trolley cars ("sleet-cutters")were stranded. Apparently they cut the overhead power lines instead of the sleet. :thumbsup: At least it's staying above freezing today. I'll get my exercise today - a mile walk and wet snow makes for a good workout.
 
Got about 7 inches of snow, some sleet too. About another inch or so today to go and more this weekend with the sub zero temps moving back in - hurrah............Later.

Kawboy...Are you anywhere near Grapevine, TX? My son lives and works there. At the end of March we (me, wife and two step-daughters) are going to drive out to visit him....I may trailer my bike out so we can get a ride in but only if there are some nice quiet roads around...My son just moved there a few months ago so he is not real familiar...

Yeah I had a Dr. Appt today about 45mins away and had to re-schedule. Went to work instead and the ride in sucked just like describe above.

We got about 6" so far and it is still coming...Lightly right now, but looks like more behind.

Rather this than constant melting and freezing roads...Driveway is a mess and the damn landlords plow guy only does a single swipe.

Nah, that's just almanac data. I'm not even sure it's right. Anyone here use Weather Underground? I highly recommend it, though it's a bit hard to use. From what I understand they're just a bunch of weather geeks sharing info. They are surprisingly accurate. I got tired of talking heads selling weather on TV...they spend more time on their hair & makeup than they do predicting weather.

I'd suspect the gov't spends money on senseless cloud studies like predicting where tornadoes and hurricanes will hit. :pk:
 
Pittsburgh, PA. It's not all that cold here, but the lakes tend to throw a lot of precip & clouds our way. We're almost as cloudy as Seattle...only six more sunny days each year.

man...hat's off to you for negotiating the windy, twisty HILLY roads there. I picked up my Roadking from right around Pittsburg back in October...(Irwin I think...on Rt 30)

It's bad enuff around here on straight flat roads...:laughing7:

The towing company that did 90% of that accident is right down the road from my shop. They do about 95% of all my towing. The accident happened around 3 pm and the road did not reopen until 9am the next morning. These towing guys are like my brothers. Family business since the 50's..many said it was the worst they had seen on 94. Mostly when crack ups happen, the scene is spread out. This one had one major clump right in the middle of it. 3 fatalities. Two were a couple that died in their car (crushed under truck I believe) and the third was a truck driver. The whole left side of his cab was torn off, he was pulled out of the cab and ended up under two cars. It was chaotic to say the least. State troopers and rescue guys #1 job was trying to account for everyone who was in every vehicle. very hard to account for what was what with so many piled up on top of each other. One guy crawled out from his car basically unhurt underneath of a semi trailer. they made room and he crawled out of about an 18" opening. Another guy was trapped and it took 4 hours to get him out. It was below zero that day as well so the people trapped were at risk of freezing to death. Visibilty was poor during the rescue as well. State police were still doing an investigation and reports a week later. As of this past friday vehicles were still not given ok to be released from the state police. The tow company was bombarded with several hundred calls on some days asking for info and if people coupld come get belongings...To say the least it was a freaking mess and still is down there...
 
Well im about 25 ta 30 miles north of Jarney and we got around 10inchs, and 25 to 30 mph winds last night...Been out snow blowing for the last 5hours......needless to say I didnt make it to work today....

yea, a lot of us use it. just look below some signatures and you will see the updated temps and conditions for the area that the user has as his home area.

Straight & flat? Not 'round here! There isn't two miles of straight & flat roads in all of Allegheny County. I like it like that - the curves and inclines make for some really challenging technical riding. To tell you the truth, I feel a wee bit uncomfortable on straight, flat, wide-open roads. It's an odd feeling...like too much sky or something like that.
 
:hello: It is to be 74* today. I cut my grass & blew some leaves this morning. I wanted to get it done before it got too hot. :laughing7: I love riding those PA mountain roads. Last July while driving from Hubbard OH I stopped in Bethal Park to see my long time friend. I unloaded my bike & let him take his wife for a ride. An hour & a half later he comes back. I was beginning to get worried. He had no idea he was gone that long. Then I rode down to South Park & a few other areas.
 
Yep, just got done shoveling that 2" of snow 1yearwonder. Another inch or two coming tonight. Getting ready to go get some sleep and get warm to go to work in the -20 degree windchill tonight.....Suppose to be 32 or so later this week though...probably for an hour on Friday......not that it'll do much good - hahahaha. Later.
