Water pump rebuilding service.

Thanks for the reply sir, I was hoping to have the parts before disassembly.
:hello: I picked up a used water pump for the 250 Eliminator $65 shipped. It is off of a 2012 EX 250 Ninja with 6 K miles. I'm not going to take this one apart because it only has 6,000 miles on it & it is very clean. Almost new looking. The first ones mechanical ceramic seal post # 65 is no good as is the one in the bike. The EX 250 & EL 250 share the same water pump 1987 to 2012 part # 49044-1086. This one has the 32 mm mechanical seal according to KAW. Also the oil seal is 25 mm x 12 mm x 7 mm as is the bearings. Again it has no retainer clip. The earlier 250 pumps use the 35 mm seal & the same bearings & oil seal as the big ZLs. I have 6 water pumps that need the 35 mm seal. The oil seal on the left is 25 mm OD is out of this water pump & the one on the right is the 28 mm OD one._____________________________________________________________________________View attachment 35532 View attachment 35533

Thank you sir. I found your post above about that pump. Would it be safe to assume my pump has the same size oil seal and bearing above or would I still need to tear it apart before ordering those parts? Thanks again.

:hello: Here is a list of all the parts, part numbers and prices for all OEM parts to rebuild a ZL9/10 water pump. Total $98. View attachment 43288

My 300 takes the same mechanical seal part# as above and I already ordered it.

Would the bearing and oil seal listed above fit my pump or are those parts for the bigger pumps you talked about earlier?

Also, does my pump take 2 bearings? If so are they identical or different bearings? Thanks and sorry for all the questions, I appreciate the help, I'm in Canada and it isn't really feasible to send my pump out.

:hello: I'm not really sure. Myself I'd take the pump apart and get the part #s off the bearing, oil seal and the ceramic mechicial seal before ordering parts.

:hello: This is an update on the 35 MM ceramic machanical water pump seal. I'm still trying to find one. I ordered a few from PARTZILLA but none was the 35 MM seal. I found this one on PARTZILLA part # 49063-1001 but it is dicontinued. It seems to measure 35 MM O. D. on the cup by looking at the ruler. https://www.partzilla.com/product/kawasaki/49063-1001 . Found this one on EBAY. It states that the O. D. of the cup is 35 MM. https://www.ebay.com/itm/275661222641. _________________________________________________________________________ 20230517_110937[1].jpg 20230517_085626[1].jpg .

Way to research! Hope you can find a reliable source for the seals.

Ouch, that's a critical component for keeping our old girls on the road. They seem to last a long time with regular use but on a garage queen the seals seem to go out after some age. As they say, sitting does a vehicle no good.

Speaking of water pumps, the one on my ZG-10 needs rebuilding so I'm gonna' pull it this weekend and get it coming to you first of next week R.J.

:hello: OK MARKUS: I'll be looking for it. Do you have my address and phone number. I have all the O-rings in stock which comes with all my pump rebuilds. The prices have gone up about 20% or so. New price to rebuild a water pump with all O-rings is now $165 plus $15 for return shipping. If a new pump was available they would be $320 shipped or so.

It looks like some changes happened over the years. 49044-1058 was in the early years and 49044-1083 seems to have superceded 1058. Some site don't have the later ones available but some do. Do your own research if you're looking for a new pump.

:hello: It would be really nice if someone else would help me find a 35 MM ceramic mechanical seal. SNAKEDOCTOR said he can get one but he is MIA like everyone else. ZL-oa to me seems like all the older members just vanished and the new members show up just for help then never comes back on the FOURM. It really upsets me!!! We can't even get TECH SUPPORT!!!

I spent so much time trying to find that seal! At one point I found it at McMaster Carr.

Try MSC industrial supply. Way back when I worked there I was able to find them in the Big book. Doubt they still have the big book but the picture with measurements above would be good to send to the sales associate you speak to.

:hello: MADMAM: Corey from IN called me. He sent me his water pump from His ZL 9. The shaft is in really bad shape. I need to check my spare pumps to see if I have a replacement to rebuild.
