Re: Vmd 2013
Just like everyone else says, at night they actually run everybody out of the infield (where the club space is located) and lock it down (ask Austin how he knows this). They do have their own campgrounds and it like $30 for the weekend. There are all kinds of campers and trailers in the campgrounds and some run generators as well. They also have porta johns and a portable shower house (although the real shower house is at the VIP campgrounds at the other end of the track). Austin and I trailer the bikes up so I can bring my camping stuff and we each have our own tents. I'm sure the camping there is louder than at the campground off site, but I like having my truck with my tools and such close by because I'm one of those that I perfer to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. Hopefully 87 will be there again this year and setup close to my site. I'm not much of a whisky person, but enjoy a shot now and then. I'll trade a cup of coffee any morning for a shot of whisky at night.
And if we have the same club space as last year there will be plenty of places to park there since we had the last two spots in the infield. Plenty of room all around us. But again, everybody has to leave at night and the area is locked down. You can go to Mid-Ohio.com and look at the track map and it will show you the infield, track and campgrounds, so you can get an idea of the layout.
I remember one of my first years there, my wife was with me and had friends that had friends that had a setup in the VIP campgrounds, now that is the way to roll. These folks had a Semi truck and trailer, the trailer had living quarters up front with a garage in the back. The owner restored old bikes (I mean 1900's British and American) as a hobby. That setup had to be close to $400k not including the mint vintage bikes he had in the trailer.
