Water pump rebuilding service.

:hello:I figured that I've spent over 2 1/2 years & over 100 man hours looking for this seal. If anyone wants any of these mechanical ceramic seals put your order in NOW. I told Bryant that I needed a dozen for myself. Most likely the more I order the cheaper they will be.

:hello: No not yet. I'm still working on Ron's ZL 1000. I'm waiting on parts. Also I have my Grizzly to finish up. I have to take the 4 into one collector on the ZL to get welded. Some one done a poor job of welding it & it is leaking threw the welds.
 
:hello: Bryant got back to me on these 35 mm seals. They are $16.26 each. It will be about a 10 week turn around time frame. $16.26 x 12 = $195.12 + 14.95 shipping = $17.50 each. When I get the 8 pumps rebuilt I'll be putting them on E Bay so that I can recoup some of my money. Not counting these seals I've spent close to $300 on parts & had only about 6 people show interest not counting the 8 or so pumps that I did for other members. Also these 8 pumps I bought off E Bay cost me around another $280. I did this so I would have pumps on hand for faster turn around time. My labor rate for members will still be $30. $80 parts, & $15 for return shipping with $150 of insurance. Total $125. Parts include 3 O-rings, 1 oil seal, 2 bearings, 1 mechanical cermaic seal & 1 C-clip.

:hello: OK: That's great. I forgot to mention that I would like the old pump for core exchange minus the cover that way I'll always have pumps on hand. Some time in the middle of August I should receive the 35 mm. mechanical seals. In the mean time I will inventory my stock & order the OEM parts that I'm low on.

:hello: I've found out when installing a water pump it is best to install it with out the cover that way you can rotate the propeller so that the shafts slot will seat into the motor. Also now I've been putting a really super thin coat of permatex ultra gray or black gasket maker on the pumps cover O-ring because they like to move if you don't. I don't like using any type of sealant on O-rings or gaskets but sometimes you need to just to hold them in place. IMG_4289.JPG IMG_6694.JPG

:hello:Why don't you put in the pump and turn it completely till it snaps in? Not possible? Before you can look for the right position and turn the propeller so that the angle for correction is minimum. I'd prefer to assemble the pump away from the engine coz easier IMHO.
 
:hello: You can't turn the motor A or the pump with the cover in place. I like doing things the hard way anyway always. :laughing7: The only hard part is getting up off the floor. :laughing7: I do turn the shaft's notch & try to line it up over onto the stem but with all the grunting & trying to breath my eyes cross & after some cursing it finally goes in. :laughing7: The cursing always gets it done.

On the other hand: I don't think Mama Kaw built in the pumps the way you suggested...:dontknow:

The only hard part is getting up off the floor. :laughing7:

If anyone wants pumps done send your pump to me with out the cover. Also if you want a spare waterpump it will be an extra $40.00 to cover the price of the pumps that I bought off of E-bay.
