While I finished up installing my new Delta fixture ($245) in my 3 rd bathroom. I had one leak to re-solder. I started late about noon. Before installing the new cartage I purged the lines for 2 minutes. Finished up by 8 PM.
While my wife & I pulled the trigger on new kitchen cabinets. We went with the Diamond Co. out of VA. We went with all wood construction. I hate that press board crap. All's it is is saw dust glued & pressed together. We went with light oak. The cabinets was $6,280 & the quartz counter top ran $2,400. Today was demo day. My 2 son's & I took up the old ceramic tile & removed some of the old cabinets. We moved the stove, fridge, dishwasher & range to the dinning room.
I hauled off the old tile. We have an area on the power line that is very wet & swampy. For the past 20 years or so we have been dumping concrete & other similar debris. We cover it with dirt afterwards. I'm giving my old cabinets to a friend for out in his garage.
Ya it would be called Slowest DIY-er. I'm dreading grinding on that floor. Next I'm going to add 3 more 125 VAC outlets.
Yesterday I spent 12 hours grinding the old thinset, old grout, paint & spackling off my Kitchen floor. I filled a 3 gal. bucket with concrete dust. Today I mixed up six 50 lb bags of self leveler with the help of my friend's Wayne & Mark. First I used my 6 ft. level to locate the low spots. Then to find the low spots even better I used my garden hose to put down water. Then I traced the outside edge with a black sharpie as to wear the water met the high spots/areas. This works great. Figured this Technic out from watching the rain puddle up on the roads.
Today my Son Jared & his friend Cole removed the popcorn ceiling texture from the Kitchen's vaulted ceiling. First all the lighting fixtures was removed. Next they sprayed water on the popcorn texture using a pump up sprayer & let it sit for 10 minutes. Then spent about an hour scrapping.
Yesterday My friend's Mark, Wayne & I sprayed the knock down on the ceiling & the orange peal on the walls. Today I relocated the land line. I almost forgot to do it. I'll mud it up then prime the ceiling today & maybe paint it. I put visquine up in the garage to blow out the dust while sanding the walls using my plum sander. It's much quicker than sanding by hand.
Today we primed the ceiling & walls with KILZ 2. Tomorrow we will paint. Sunday I will start laying tile. Today our cabinet maker started building our cabinets. They will be here between June 28 & July 7.
This past SAT/SUN my Wife, son Jared & I primed & painted the kitchen walls & ceiling. We also cleaned all the crap off the floor. Yesterday I installed the lighting & all the outlets. Also I tested all outlets & switches. Today I'm redoing the pantry with 7/16" plywood shelving using 2"x 2" framing. 4 of the shelves are 34"x 20" & 16" apart. Top shelve is 34"x 14" & 10" from the shelve below it.
Sunday my son Jarred, wife Debbie & I laid most of the tile. We stared at 7 AM & stopped at 6 PM. Christ I feel like a concrete truck ran me over then backed up to see what he hit. The last time I laid tile was over 20 years ago. I do not remember it being this hard.

I'll be 60 in 2 years. When I was 16 I thought 35 was old. It will be 30 years this November that my wife & I had our house built. It is something how time flies. My 2 son's & I put a new roof on the house in Feb. of 2012. Again I do not remember hurting this bad. My problem is once I start a project I do to much in one day. Some days I'll start at dawn & not stop until 11 PM. Then the next day the truck hits me again.
That may be true because the tile is porous & will not reflect light. I went with this brand/style of tile for it's durability & when wet you will not slip & fall. Also it is the same color all the way threw. So if it chips it won't be that noticeable.
The past few days my Wife Deb, son Jared & I cut & ripped 3/4 " pine for door frames. Then stained & urethaned them. We also did molding & base board. Stained & urethaned the new 6 panel pantry bi fold door. Hunk the bifold door. Trimmed the floor in the pantry & door frame.
