Yesterday my friend Wayne, son Jared & I mounted the bottom cabinets. Today I trimmed some base boards & door trim. I also did some of the pluming & reinstalled the appliances.
Today my wife Deb, Jared & I installed brushed nickel handles on all the cabinets & knob on the pantry door. I also put the kick/toe plate on the bottom of the cabinets. I bought 2 templets from Lowes for aligning the hardware. Total cost was $160.
Today I installed the new over the range microwave $270 & 12 oak switch plate covers $70. I also did the new replacement ceiling fan $320. The first one had an electrical problem. We picked out a back splash may be. See pic #5.
Thank's a bunch.
Today I sweated in the 1/4 turn hot & cold water valves. Next I'll fit the new BLANCO black garnet composite sink & mount the new APEC reverse osmosis drinking water system. Markus how's my pluming job look? I used threaded valves. I don't care for the pressure fit type. I had one break loose & flood my master bed room 2 days after doing my master bath. Also the gator/shark bits spin. I don't trust them either. Is BLANCO a good sink. It's made in Canada. Thank's R. J.
I put a plug on the dishwasher instead of hard wiring it. Drilled the 1 1/2" hole in the sink cabinet for the hot water supply & the drain for the dishwasher. Also I burned all the cardboard that the new cabinets came in. It took me 4 hours because I cut the boxes up in small sections to be burned a little at a time.
Our 11/86 new house is all copper. The builder gave us a choice so we went with copper. Here in Fl 1000 of homes that was built in the 90s have some type of plastic piping that since has been banned. When people buy one of theses homes they are made to redo all the pluming. It runs them between 4 to 8K depending on the size of the home. Two story homes run even more.
Today I routed out the sink cabinet so the sink would sit flush with the top of the cabinet. Also I ran the water line for the ice maker from the reverse osmosis system & put a plug on the garbage disposal instead of hard wiring it in. This will make things much easier the next time.
The counter top guys are coming today for fitment of our quarts counter tops. I rechecked the cabinets plum & leveling. Nothing moved. If it would have I really could of not done much anyway. When we leveled the cabinets we first set them in place lining them up with the top ones then bolted them all together. The floor concrete leveler that we put down did the trick because we used very few shims.
Matt & Jesus from Southeast Stone installed our sink & counter tops today. Also they drilled for our faucets & soap dispenser. We had a little bit of a set back. I cracked our new composite garnet sink. I was installing the filler on the bottom of the top cabinet that goes between/above the sink & dropped my air brad nailer & chipped the back left corner. Build.com covered it under warranty. I made 2 cutting boards out of the waste piece of the sink cut outs.
Tonight I completed all the pluming under the sink & made another cutting board from the second piece of the sink cut out. Also I installed the new 6 stage filter APEC reverse osmosis drinking water system & the two new BLANCO sink strainers. The 4 gal. water storage tank was to big to go next to the BADGER garbage disposer so I had to put it under the corner cabinet.
Gorilla tape is better & it's black.
That didn't set well with my wife. She got in the RAV 4 & smoked the tires.
